Second Assault offers specialized training on child maltreatment, developmental trauma, and systemic responses to abuse.

These trainings are designed for professionals seeking a deeper, more accurate understanding of trauma, particularly in cases involving complex, developmental, and relational harm.

Each training integrates lived experience, clinical insight, and current research to address gaps in traditional models of trauma-informed care and support more ethical, effective practice.

  • Our training are designed to support anyone who is working with high risk individuals and/or survivors of childhood abuse. This can include, but isn’t limited to mental health professionals, Healthcare providers, Social workers, Legal professionals, Educators.

  • Courses are self-paced and designed to be completed on your own time, allowing participants to engage with material at a pace that supports understanding and reflection. Each course integrates research, clinical insight, and lived experience to provide a deeper and more practical understanding of trauma.

    Courses are self-paced and may include video content, written materials, and reflective components. Written work receives feedback and comments to help deepen understanding of the topics.

  • Courses are intentionally priced to remain accessible, with most ranging from $20–$50 depending on content and length. More in-depth courses or those that include individualized feedback may be priced at a higher rate.

    All funds generated are directed back into advancing this work and supporting individuals impacted by developmental trauma.

Dissociation in Developmental Trauma

Understanding dissociation as a core adaptation to chronic trauma. This training explores how dissociation presents in individuals with developmental trauma and how it is often misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

The Neurobiology of Chronic Stress and Trauma

A review of how chronic stress and early trauma shape brain development, nervous system functioning, and long-term health outcomes. Focuses on translating neurobiology into practical understanding.

Dissociation and Trauma Responses in Forensic Settings

Examining how trauma and dissociation impact memory, behavior, and presentation in legal contexts. Addresses common misinterpretations and their consequences within forensic systems.

Working with Survivors of Severe and Organized Abuse

An introduction to the complexities of severe, chronic, and organized abuse. This training focuses on understanding presentation, avoiding harm, and responding with appropriate care and caution.

Recognizing System-Induced Harm in Clinical Practice

Identifying how clinical approaches can unintentionally contribute to harm, and how to shift toward safer, more effective care.
